This project was the culmination of my time and education at Drexel University. The goal of the project was for each student to helm the schedule, design, and production of a graphic design work that could focus on any topic within reason.
For my capstone, I wanted to create a collection of film analysis essays on women in modern American horror films, in the format of a coffee-table book. The biggest challenge of the project was trying to make the dense copy visually engaging while still retaining a sense of professional academia.
Style inspiration came from the gritty and grunge aesthetic of 70s Grindhouse movie posters, the era and sub-genere that the 3 main focus films originated from; I utilized this through my use of illustration via callout quotes. All the imagery used within the book, bar some spot illustrations I drew, are screen-grabs pulled from their respective movies or books that had access to higher quality stills.
